Burbage Police Update. Who Behaves Like That In A Park? Community Engagement And Mental Health Drop-In Event |
||||||
|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage since our last report on the 18th of May. We hope you have a warm, and safe Bank holiday weekend.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Report just coming in of a theft of a Toyota Corolla from the Hinckley Island hotel at 15:30 on the 22nd of May. If you are leaving vehicles on car parks, please leave them in areas covered by CCTV, use steering locks, and do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
Reports of nitrous oxide cannisters, waste and litter, from vehicles on the Tilton Road Park (Sketchley Hill Farm recreation ground). We have been completing patrols and speaking to motorists parked in the car park. We will be completing patrols ongoing to deter this type of behaviour, but if you see anyone doing any of the above, please pass on any information you have (dates, times, vehicle registration). Since our last report on the 18th of May, we have received 28 calls to Police. 4 of these were emergency and 6 were priority calls. Many of these calls were reports of violence or harassment. No calls of a wider community concern.
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
I was joined by Pc Smeaton from the Hinckley town centre beat where we completed a visit to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service to discuss partnership working. A lot of Police work overlaps with partner agencies such as fire, council and ambulance. We spoke about subjects such as Arson, Hoarding and water safety. This helps build links for referrals and points of contact when we meet people in the community that may require support that we are not the appropriate agency for. It was also a quick chance to jump in the fire engine.
We have visited Burbage Infants and Juniors to monitor parking in the area around school time. Concerns raised around no seatbelts and parking over crossings. We engaged with multiple motorists and residents/parents in the area. We have also visited Hinckley Road due to parking complaints (vehicles on pavements), additional signage added in the area and communication with local businesses completed to try to ease issues and confrontations between pedestrians and motorists.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
We are holding our next beat surgery at the SPAR on Lutterworth Road on Tuesday 16th of June where I will hopefully be accompanied by a representative from the Rural community council, Neighbourhood mental health team. Please pop by and have a chat. We will be there from around 15:00-16:30. “Drop-in support for when you are struggling”. We will be trying to get further events if needed.
Thank you and take care.
