I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We are writing to make you aware of recent incidents of theft from motor vehicles reported in your local area. Whilst investigations are ongoing, these offences are often opportunistic, with offenders targeting vehicles that are insecure or contain visible valuables. To help reduce the risk of becoming a victim, we would strongly advise residents to take the following simple precautions: Crime Prevention Advice
Always lock your vehicle – even if leaving it unattended for a short period. Do not leave valuables on display, including bags, clothing, tools, or loose change. Remove all items overnight where possible. Ensure windows are fully closed and sunroofs secured. Park in well-lit, overlooked areas or secure parking locations where available. Use additional security measures, such as steering wheel locks or vehicle alarms if fitted. Be mindful of keyless vehicles – keep keys well away from doors/windows and consider signal-blocking pouches.
Vehicles have been specifically targeted in recent incidents, so it is important to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures.
