Knife seized by your local officers

On Sunday 17th of May, officers from Mile End Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) were conducting vigilant patrols around Bow Common Lane, E3. The area is a ward priority due to the high number of reports in regards to Anti-Social Behaviour and Burglary.

Group of males upon seeing police presence ran towards the estate. PCSO's attempted to follow this group on foot while PC's drove around the estate with the goal to contain the group and prevent escape from the area. A member of the public showed the PCSO's a large Rambo style knife had been dumped near a bush while they ran past them. This item was safely seized and targeted patrols continued around the area.

Shortly after, a male from the group was seen by PCSO's and made off. The familiarity of the area and historical knowledge helped Mile End SNT to cut off any escape paths. Eventually, the male was spotted for the third time in the same location of where the knife had been dumped and looking around the bushes. The PCSO's detained the male and with sufficient grounds a search was conducted by PC's. The officers on scene were unable to attribute the knife to the detained male. The male was taken back to his home due to his age and safeguarding protocols were upheld.
