Sceptre - delivering major activity across Greater Manchester
Sceptre, the biannual national week of action to tackle knife crime, began on 18 May, with coordinated activity from GMP and partners now well underway across Greater Manchester. The operation will continue until 24 May, bringing together enforcement, prevention, and community engagement to reduce the harm caused by knives. How can the Public Help Members of the public are encouraged to hand in any knives they no longer wish to keep. If a member of the public has an item considered an offensive weapon, this can also be disposed of in the surrender period. Items must be wrapped up and placed in a sealed bag or box. They must not be carried openly at any time. Carrying bladed articles in public without a good reason or lawful authority is an offence.
