Dear Resident 🚨 Increase in Vehicle Crime – Puckeridge & Standon 🚨 We have seen a noticeable increase in vehicle-related crime across Puckeridge and Standon over the past two weeks. Incidents reported include: Theft of motor vehiclesTheft from motor vehiclesVehicle interferenceAttempted vehicle crimeThe East Herts Rural Neighbourhood Police Team are actively responding by: Increasing patrols in affected areasConducting street meets to engage with residentsProviding reassurance and crime prevention adviceWhat you can do: Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicleWhen parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices. If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.Reporting: In an emergency, call 999For non-emergency incidents, call 101Your vigilance is key in helping us tackle this issue.
