Dear Resident, On Friday two of our officers were leaving the station to head out to our patch when they noticed a van driving along the road just outside the station. The officers have cause to stop the vehicle to conduct some checks. Those checks showed that the vehicle did not have Tax. The van was seized and the officers were able to continue with their patrols. ![]() On Saturday Two of our PCSOs attended reports of a vehicle that has been abandoned on a residential road. The location was attended and the vehicle was found parked up. The vehicle was locked but there was a large amount of cannabis plant material. Checks on the vehicle showed it was not locally registered, had no insurance, no vehicle tax and an MOT that expired in 2022. The vehicle was seized from the location to give access back to the residents who had been blocked in. ![]() On Monday we received a report of a vehicle that had been left abandoned on a residential road in suspicious circumstances. The report stated that the vehicle had been dropped off by a flatbed and left at location for a number of days without an apparent owner. The vehicle was attended and checked. Although it was not stolen checks showed that the vehicle had no insurance, had not held a valid MOT since 2012 and was showing as SORN. The vehicle was seized for no vehicle tax. ![]() This week has also seen another couple of arrests from our officers. At the start of the week Officers went out on arrest attempts for outstanding offenders. As part of these enquiries one male was arrested for failing to appear. On Monday officers on patrol came across a male who was in an angry state. The officers pulled over to speak to him, but the male was not willing to engage and hit one of the officers to the side of the face before running. The officers were able to give chase and with the help of the City centres cameras and other officers the male was stopped and arrested for Assault on an emergency worker. The reasons for the male’s actions at this stage are unknown.
Finally on Saturday officers issued a Community protection warning to a prolific beggar at one of the retail parks on our patch. A Community Protection Warning (CPW) is a formal, written warning issued under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. It is designed to stop individuals (aged 16 or over), businesses, or organisations from engaging in persistent, unreasonable behaviour that negatively impacts the local community's quality of life. If breached the male will be issued with a Community Protection Notice.
