New local priorities set for Royston |
||
|
Dear Resident Over the past few months, Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) across North Herts have been working hard to tackle their local policing priorities - the issues that residents said were causing them the most concern. NPTs work alongside partner agencies to focus on solving long and short-term neighbourhood issues, such as anti-social behaviour, theft, speeding and drug-related crime. The NPT teams in North Herts set local policing priorities every four months, providing a specific focus on the issues that residents have raised through surveys, and an analysis of other data. The dedicated teams of PCs and PCSOs will work alongside partners to tackle the issues, through an increased police presence, engagement events and targeted enforcement.
Royston During the last period the following issues were addressed: • Fly-tipping in Royston Rural. Despite progress having been made by your local team, who have been working closely with local landowners, NFU and Hertfordshire Police’s Rural Operational Support Team, this issue will continue as a priority over the coming months. We will continue to conduct patrols and provide visible reassurance to local communities and a deterrent to offenders. • The use of illegal e-scooters in Royston Urban. Your local team have been working hard on this issue. Through targeted patrols, we have recovered several stolen motorbikes, made arrests for related offences, and seized e-scooters. We will continue this activity over the summer, focussing on both enforcement and education.
The following priorities have now been agreed for the next four months: • Road safety in Royston Urban and Rural. An increased focus on speeding, mobile phone usage, and seatbelts is to be launched. Target locations identified in the urban area are Baldock Road and Newmarket Road, while in the rural area we will focus on Newnham Way in Ashwell. • Fly-tipping in Royston Rural. Continued work to address this issue with the support of landowners and businesses will be further enhanced to help improve timely reporting of incidents, increase intelligence and prevent offences as well as help target offenders. • Anti-social use of motorised vehicles in Royston Rural. Broadening the extent of this issue to include all motorised vehicles, we will complement the good work that already been undertaken by your local team.
As well as the NPT, North Herts is also policed by response officers who respond to emergency calls, and detectives in CID who investigate crimes such as burglary, robbery and assault. In addition, we can utilise officers from central teams which work countywide and include our dedicated sexual offences team, child protection teams and domestic abuse team. | ||
