We are reminding all residents that carrying a knife in public without a valid reason is illegal and can lead to serious consequences.

🔹 It is against the law to carry most knives in public without good reason (such as for work, religious purposes, or as part of a national costume).
🔹 Even carrying a small knife can result in arrest if it is not lawful.
🔹 The maximum penalty for illegal knife possession is up to 4 years in prison, an unlimited fine, or both.

⚠️ Knife crime has devastating impacts on individuals, families, and our wider community.
Many incidents involve young people carrying knives out of fear—but this often increases the risk rather than reducing it.

✅ What you can do:

• Talk openly with young people about the dangers and consequences

• Call 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-urgent concerns
