OPERATION SCEPTRE - KNIFE AMNESTY (UPPERMILL POLICE STATION) |
||
|
Dear Resident.
This week, Monday 18th – Sunday 24th May, Greater Manchester Police will once again take part in Operation SCEPTRE, our national, bi‑annual initiative focused on tackling knife crime.
Operation SCEPTRE brings together Police forces across the country to raise awareness of the impact of knife crime, highlight the work being done to prevent it, and encourage communities to play an active role in keeping their neighbourhoods safe. The campaign combines enforcement, education and engagement, all aimed at reducing the harm caused by knives and sharply pointed instruments.
Throughout the week, your Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out a range of activity including targeted operations, community engagement, weapon sweeps, and proactive patrols in key areas. Our aim is simple: to keep people safe and to work with you to prevent serious harm.
As part of the week of action, I am pleased to confirm that Uppermill Police Station will be open for members of the public to hand in any knives or sharply pointed items anonymously and without question, as part of our knife amnesty.
Opening times for the amnesty are as follows: These openings also provide a great opportunity for you to come and speak with a member of your Neighbourhood Team. I intend to be present during these times (operational demand permitting) and would very much welcome the chance to meet residents, answer questions, and listen to any concerns you may have.
Your support and involvement are vital. By working together, we can continue to make Saddleworth & Lees a safe place to live, work and visit.
Thank you for your continued support.
Regards
PS 1650 Andy Holian Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Sergeant
