Action 13 – Chair and GM to look at potential for FB Met Engage usage Awaiting reply
Action 16 - Chair to contact the Cabinet Member for Community Safety (Councillor Hashi, copy to ward Councillors) and also relevant officers for Community Safety and Trading Standards to raise concerns Done but we need to get the need for fire checks for Vape Shops with flats above (and also the need to strengthen the Lambeth Trading Standards team in general), on the agenda for the new Council as a community safety, (including child and consumer protection), priority.
Action 18 Chair to raise concerns about reduced hours for Brixton Police Station at next meeting with Safer Panel Chairs and Police. Done but this was the result of decisions by MOPAC, not locally. The provision of alternative safe haven/reporting facilities, co-funded by the council, should be raised with the new intake of councillors.
Action24 Chair to talk to Friends of West Norwood Cemetery about setting up Cemetery Watch. Done. Reporting/intelligence sharing processes need to be agreed between Lambeth Bereavement Services and West Dulwich SNT. Friends can then support.
Police Report:
See West Dulwich | Your area | Metropolitan Police for current priorities and figures to March
Extract from Met Engage report on Dulwich Village exercise on ASB on the part of Cyclists: Dulwich Village SNT conducted a dedicated cycle patrol day in Dulwich Village today as part of ongoing road safety and ASB prevention activity. The operation generated mixed reactions from cyclists and local residents. Cyclists observed failing to comply with red traffic signals or riding within pedestrianised areas were stopped, spoken to, and provided with road safety advice and guidance in line with policy.
Councillor Updates:
Judith Cavanagh - apology for absence:
“Festivals: I’ve been in touch with officers at Lambeth who assure me they and Peabody have a parking enforcement plan for both on and around the Peabody estate. So hopefully the entrance will be kept clear and fewer cars will get on to the estate in the first place. I have contacted Peabody today to check that this is also their understanding and that they have a plan in place for the estate.
As ever with the events it’s essential that people call the events hotline in the event of any concerns about parking, ASB, noise levels etc. This goes to a central control team who can then send out the appropriate enforcement team.”
Tom Palmer: plans to be present
Lambeth NHW Update – main report to be sent separately to all partipicants across Lambeth (including West Dulwich).
The attempt to launch an Association before election purdah failed. In consequence there is no local (as oppposed to national) support for groups to organise activities during Neighbourhood Watch Week. We plan to approach the new Council for support akin to that in other London Boroughs. This particularly important in the light of the postponed (to the new council) review of Lambeth Community Safety and Resilience plans. This will be the first since before 2022 and we have been to contacted to help by those contracted to handle the community engagement process. Neighbourhood Watch often plays a significant role in other London Boroughs and outside London.
West Dulwich Membership: There are 139 registered households, most in the following groups: Carson Road 3, Chancellor Grove 1, Chestnut Road 30, Clive Road 16, Croxted Road 19, Dalmore, Eastmearn & Tulsemere 9, Idmiston Chatsworth & Ardlui 9, Lancaster & Lavengro 4, Lings Coppice 10, Lovelace 7, Norwood Road Central 1, Peabody Village 2, Robson 1, Rosendale Gardens 2, Rosendale Road Central 4, Trinity Rise 5, Whytefield 10. Most link to street/estate whatsapp groups. All Groups are asked to send at least one representative to the SNP meeting and all participants are invited.
We need to find co-ordinators for the Groups covering Chancellor Grove, Norwood Road Central, Robson Road, Rosendale Road and Trinity Rise. We also need to agree a Multi-Scheme administrator (to approve new schemes) and an Area Co-ordinator (may be the same person)
Brockwell Park Events
PC Eldridge, who will be on duty for the first week-end, plans to join us in order to answer questions. | ||
