Update on Road Safety Issues Where You Live

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding road safety issues including speeding, dangerous driving and parking, which people where you live are highlighting as an issue of concern in their survey responses.

On Wednesday 6th May 2026 at about 10:30 am an elderly lady was attempting to cross the road between Aldi and Home Bargains, Spennymoor. As the female was crossing, a large white car has came from the Tudhoe area at speed, sounding her horn, causing the lady to fall over in shock. Thankfully the lady was unharmed following this distressing incident. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has dash cam footage, please contact on SpennymoorBeats@durham.police.uk. Thank you.
