I wanted to provide an update regarding Hate crime, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. If someone has been physically or verbally abused due to who they are, they may have been a victim of a hate crime or incident. Our website provides more information on what can classify as a hate crime, but it can include targeting someone due to their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or whether they are transgender. Respect Everyone β Stand Against Hate There have been reports of hate-related behaviour in this area. Hate crime is serious, harmful, and will NOT be tolerated in our community.
β What Is Hate Crime? Hate crime is when someone is targeted because of who they are, such as: π΄ Race or ethnicity π΄ Religion or beliefs π΄ Disability π΄ Sexual orientation π΄ Gender identity It can include words, actions, threats, or damage to property.
β Reported Concerns Include: π΄ Name-calling, insults, or abusive language π΄ Threatening or intimidating behaviour π΄ Offensive graffiti or damage to property π΄ Online abuse or messages π΄ Targeting individuals or groups
β οΈ THIS IS SERIOUS Hate crime can: β Cause fear, distress, and emotional harm β Make people feel unsafe in their own area β Divide our community

- Treat everyone with respect - Do not use abusive or offensive language - Challenge hate where it is safe to do so - Support those affected

- Police investigation - Arrest and prosecution - Serious legal consequences

Report it as soon as possible Provide details (time, place, what happened)
πΉ Call 999 if there is immediate danger πΉ Call 101 for non-emergency reports You can also report anonymously if you prefer.
