Most smartphones allow you to set up a Medical ID, which can be accessed by emergency services even when your phone is locked. This can help first responders quickly understand important details about your health and who to contact.
π Why Itβs ImportantA completed Medical ID can provide: - Your name and date of birth
- Emergency contact details
- Medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, epilepsy)
- Allergies (e.g. medication, food)
- Medications you take
- Blood type
In an emergency, this information can help paramedics and doctors act quickly and appropriately, especially if you are unable to communicate.
π² How to Set Up Medical IDβ
On iPhone: - Open the Health app
- Tap your profile picture (top right)
- Select Medical ID
- Tap Edit
- Enter your details
- Make sure βShow When Lockedβ is turned ON
- Tap Done

On Android: (Steps may vary slightly depending on device) Option 1 (Emergency Info): - Open Settings
- Go to Safety & Emergency or About Phone
- Tap Emergency Information
- Add medical details and emergency contacts
- Ensure it is accessible from the lock screen
Option 2 (Contact Info/Card): - Some phones also allow you to add emergency info via the lock screen settings or a medical ID app
