Norwood Green Safer Neighbourhood Team – Operation Update
On Tuesday 5th May 2026, Norwood Green Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) recently carried out a successful joint operation in partnership with Ealing Council’s Safer Communities, Estates, Environmental and Parking Enforcement, Highways teams, and Park Guard Ltd. Park Guard supported the operation with both a drugs detection dog and a general purpose dog.
During the operation, the drugs dog identified the presence of drug scents in communal stairwells, alleyways, and under croft areas, which was anticipated. While no controlled drugs were recovered, drug-related paraphernalia, including crack pipes, was located and removed.
The general purpose dog also indicated several concealed items across the estate that could potentially be used as weapons. These included pieces of wood, serrated copper piping, a hammer, and screwdrivers hidden in bushes and behind walls. All items were safely recovered and disposed of.
In addition, the Estates team removed a significant amount of fly-tipped waste, as well as general rubbish from car parks and communal corners. These areas were thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to improve the environment for residents.
The operation also provided valuable engagement opportunities with local residents. Officers spoke with eight residents who approached the team, all of whom expressed their appreciation for the visible police and partner presence, the proactive activity, and ongoing engagement. Residents were clear that they would welcome more operations of this nature.
In addition, a total of 17 vehicles were removed from the estate and surrounding roads, including three vehicles identified and removed by the night enforcement team. Follow-up action is being taken with the Housing team, and where vehicles are linked to housing tenants, appropriate tenancy breach warnings are being issued.
Reporting issues to Ealing Council
We will continue to work closely with our partners to plan further operations, ensuring sufficient lead time to support effective resourcing and maximise community safety benefits.
