Local updates - Shoplifting and Blue Badge Safety |
||
|
Morning all, Couple of updates for you, one concerning our efforts to curb shoplifting in Morden Town Centre and the other in relation to Blue Badge Security.
THE LIFTING OF SHOPS Shoplifting is quite a major concern in Morden Town Centre. Whether it be sacksful of sandwiches from Greggs, or armfuls of alcohol from Sainsburys. None of it is accepted for a few reasons. We, as a team, cover all of Morden and get hit hard due to the tube stations locality which, surprise, surprise the criminals don't pay for either. (Thus raising that price too…) Fortunately, we did catch a couple of criminals and drove them straight to custody for a ropey cup of tea.
THE STEALING OF BADGES Now… While our plucky PCs were dealing with these, a member of the public reported that her car window had been smashed and Blue Badge swiped from within. These can be flogged on for a case full of cash as they allow some quite lovely parking for a pernicious parker. We've had a few reports of this, so when you are out and about, use security for your badge which can be bought online. I found a few for under £30, so well worth it in the long run.
All in all, some great work happening, but as always, I need your feedback. Please take a minute to fill in the form below as it'll make the team and I exceedingly happy to know we are targeting the right crimes for you.
Also, if you know anyone (not necessarily in Merton Park Ward) that would appreciate local policing messages, please send the below details to through to me on david.haywood@met.police.uk it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance and hope you don't need us! Dave and the team | ||
