We’ve been out on plain clothes patrols recently — although judging by the photo, PC Oldroyd might need a refresher on how to stand like a normal human being.

During our wanderings, we came across a male behaving suspiciously. After a stop and search (nothing found), he still couldn’t explain why he was in Wantage.
And let’s be honest, from what we knew, he wasn’t here to soak up the King Alfred heritage experience.

So, being the helpful customer‑service‑focused unit that we are, we ensured he caught a bus heading out of the area. We even gave him a friendly wave — because we’re polite, and also because it’s hard to resist a dramatic farewell moment. 👋🏼

After that, we visited several pubs in the outer parts of our patch to carry out drug swabbing. These checks help us understand the level of drug presence on surfaces inside licensed premises.
