Mini Police

The Mini Police from St Peter’s church of England School, Fairfield have been extremely busy and hardworking over the last two weeks.

Last week, the children asked to be part of a community litter pick, showing real pride in their local area. High Peak Borough Council (HPBC) kindly provided all the equipment needed, allowing the Mini Police to safely walk around the estates and park areas of Fairfield, collecting litter they found along the way. 
During the activity, the children also identified a bin that had been moved into an alleyway and needed emptying. They took the initiative to report this, and a request has since been made to the council. The children even asked for regular patrols in the area to help keep on top of any future issues and ensure the space remains clean and welcoming for everyone.

Taking part in litter picks helps children understand the importance of caring for their environment, working as a team, and taking responsibility for shared community spaces. The Mini Police absolutely loved helping to keep their local area tidy and were incredibly proud of the difference they had made.

Today, the Mini Police also had the privilege of a visit from the Buxton fire engine and the on‑watch fire crew. The children were fascinated as they explored the fire engine, learned about the equipment carried on board, and listened to the crew explain how and why it is used. Experiences like this are vital for young people, as they help build understanding of emergency services, promote safety awareness, and show just how important fire crews are in protecting and supporting our community.
