POCKET DIALLED THE EMERGENCY SERVICES? |
||
|
🚨 Ever pocket dialled 999? Don’t panic! 🚨
It happens more often than you’d think - phones in pockets, bags, or even children pressing buttons can easily make an accidental call to the Emergency Services.
If you do dial 999 by mistake, here’s what to do:
✅ Stay on the line - Don’t end the call. The call handlers will answer and simply ask if you need help.
✅ Explain it was accidental - Just let us know you’re safe and that it was a pocket dial. It only takes a moment and helps us close the call quickly.
If you end the call without speaking, we have to treat it as a potential emergency. That can mean:
- Calling you back
This takes up valuable time and resources that could be needed elsewhere.
📲 If you do end the call - Please answer when we call you back. We just need to confirm that you’re okay, once we know, we can stand down any further action.
Doing this can help us keep emergency lines free for those who really need them.
