Dear Residents,

We would like to advise you to take a few simple precautions to reduce the risk of theft from the person, including pickpocketing and mobile phone snatches.

These offences can occur quickly and often take place in busy areas, on public transport, or while individuals are distracted.

We recommend the following steps to help keep you safe:

How to Protect Yourself

Keep valuables out of sight – Avoid displaying mobile phones, wallets, or expensive items in public.

Stay alert – Be aware of your surroundings at all times, particularly in crowded places.

Secure your belongings – Use bags that fasten securely and keep them close to your body.

Limit distractions – Try not to use your phone while walking, especially near roads or public spaces.

Protect your phone – Enable passcodes and security features to safeguard your personal data.

Take care at cash machines – Shield your PIN and be mindful of anyone standing nearby.

Criminals often rely on opportunistic moments, so remaining aware and taking preventative steps can greatly reduce your risk.
