🚨 Community Alert – Live Facial Recognition Deployment 🚨 West Yorkshire Police will be deploying Live Facial Recognition (LFR) technology in Bradford City Centre on the following dates: 📅 Wednesday 13 May 2026 🔍 What is Live Facial Recognition? Live Facial Recognition (LFR) is used as an efficient and effective policing tactic to help prevent and detect crime and protect vulnerable people. Its purpose includes: The technology is typically used at public events, busy areas, and locations where intelligence supports its deployment. 👮 Why is it being used? LFR helps officers manage large crowds more effectively and identify individuals who may pose a risk, where it may otherwise be difficult to do so. Its use enhances public safety in busy areas such as city centres. ⚖️ Transparency and Public Confidence West Yorkshire Police recognises that there is a national conversation around the use of LFR, and understands that some members of the public may have concerns. The force is committed to using this technology: West Yorkshire Police currently uses NEC NeoFace facial recognition software for LFR deployments. 🔔 Stay Informed Officers will be present in the area during deployments.
