Urgent Courier Fraud Alert #FraudFree2026 |

Good afternoon, We are urging residents in Petersfield to be on their guard following several reports of courier fraud in the area in recent weeks. These cases involve elderly victims receiving scam phone calls from criminals who pretend to be the police. Victims are told there is fraudulent activity on their bank account and they are asked to participate in a fake police operation. They are then told to visit banks or currency exchange outlets to obtain cash or Euros. Victims then hand this money to a fake courier on their doorstep. Courier fraud is not exclusive to the Petersfield area, so we are urging all residents, of all ages, living in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to remain vigilant when answering the phone. Police officers, bank staff and other agencies will never call you in this manner and ask you to withdraw money or hand it over to someone. Ideally, screen your calls, but if you do answer a call like this, do not engage with the caller, hang up, wait at least 5 minutes then report using the details below.
