We are recruiting for the Sandwell Independent Advisory group |
Independent Advisory Groups (IAGs) were established following the recommendations in the Stephen Lawrence Report (1999) and IAGs were originally based on the perspective of the community and race relations strategy. The IAG role has since broadened to cover all aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion. The College of Policing suggests, “The purpose of an Independent Advisory Group (IAG) is to give the community a voice in police decision-making; they can also provide advice on developing successful partnerships. They will make observations both within the force and to the communities they represent. This includes helping to address problems affecting particular groups or communities. Effective and well-structured IAGs will enable gathering of a range of community views.”
The Sandwell IAG meets once every 2 months at West Bromwich Police Station, with online meetings in between with guest speakers from different departments of the Police force.
