Moped Seized - No insurance - 10/05/2026

This afternoon,
Neighbourhood Beat Officer PC Howe and PCSO Chadwick were out on patrol around the 18th Fairway area when, along Greenhurst Lane, they suddenly found themselves face‑to‑face with a moped that was very clearly not being ridden legally.

In the space of a few confused seconds, the helmet‑less pillion passenger decided his best option was to leap off the back and leg it, leaving the rider startled and wobbling. Realising his grand escape plan had just evaporated, the rider sensibly stopped for PC Howe… while his “friend” disappeared into the distance.

The rider quickly admitted he wasn’t insured and had only bought the moped 30 minutes earlier. He told us he was simply on his way to see his girlfriend.

His freshly purchased moped was seized, and he was dealt with for driving without third‑party insurance.
