Rural Crime and Road Traffic Offences |

A suspicious VW Golf containing several males failed to stop for Ashford CSU officers earlier today. Checks showed the vehicle had no insurance and was SORN, raising immediate concerns.
The vehicle made off at speed, leading to a pursuit through rural Ashford, both on‑ and off‑road, during which the suspects’ driving put members of the public at risk. Officers briefly lost sight of the car, but it was soon found hidden close to its last known location. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a quantity of freshly cut copper piping, believed to be stolen.
Despite the offenders’ attempts to conceal the vehicle, Police and Ashford Recovery used specialist equipment to safely remove it from the area, ensuring it is off our roads.
Enquiries remain ongoing to identify the males involved and take appropriate action to keep them — and their criminality — away from our roads and communities.
