I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle Crime - them from / theft of, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Residents in Blackwood and Pontllanfraith are advised that there has been an increase in motorcycles being abandoned within the local community.
Some abandoned motorcycles may be linked to theft, anti-social behaviour or criminal activity. Residents are asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious circumstances.
Please look out for:
Motorcycles left in unusual locations for extended periods. Individuals arriving and leaving motorcycles quickly. Attempts to conceal motorcycles in bushes, lanes, parks or alleyways. Suspicious vehicles or persons acting unusually around residential areas. Groups gathering around motorcycles late at night. Target Hardening Advice
To help reduce crime and protect your property:
Secure motorcycles with quality chains, disc locks and ground anchors. Keep motorcycles in locked garages or secure, well-lit areas where possible. Install security lighting and visible deterrents. Consider using alarms and GPS tracking devices. Ensure gates, sheds and outbuildings are properly secured. CCTV & Doorbell Camera Advice
Residents with CCTV or doorbell cameras are encouraged to:
Ensure systems are fully charged, functioning and recording correctly. Check cameras are positioned to capture driveways, streets and access points. Retain any footage showing suspicious activity, unknown vehicles or abandoned motorcycles. Report any relevant footage to police if requested. Please report all suspicious activity, abandoned motorcycles or concerns via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
