Hazelwalls Community Park Uttoxeter

Dear residents,

We have unfortunately received reports of damage to Hazelwalls Community Park in Uttoxeter.

Both local residents and East Staffordshire Borough Council have raised concerns about this issue.

The affected area forms part of the flood-defence bund that surrounds Hazelwalls Community Park. This bund plays a vital role in protecting nearby homes during increasingly frequent extreme weather events. Should the brook running through the open space overflow, the bund is designed to contain the water and prevent flooding. Any damage caused by digging could comprimise this protection and put multiple properties at risk. 

It is great to see children using the park, however damage caused by a small number, could have serious consequences. 

We kindly ask for this to be shared, which will help persons understand the importance of protecting this flood defence area.
