Joint Operation – Immigration Enforcement Officers from Consett NPT recently assisted Immigration Enforcement with an operation at a premises in Consett, following intelligence regarding suspected illegal working. One male was detained by Immigration Enforcement for further enquiries into his immigration status. The business has been reminded of its legal responsibilities, and enquiries remain ongoing. The premises will be held accountable for any breaches identified. “Working alongside our partners in Immigration Enforcement is an important part of keeping our communities safe and fair,” said Sgt Kilgallon. “The Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to support these operations, holding businesses accountable for their responsibilities.”Anti-social Behaviour PCSO Hart alongside our ASB team at Durham County Council have issued a Community Protection Warning and this is in regard to noise nuisance. PCSO Dixon has issued a Community Protection Warning to a female in relation to a dog bite incident. Road Safety Enforcement Officers issued a Fixed Penalty Notice to a male after he was seen running a red light. Additionally, a van was seized by PC Guy & PC Curtis after checks confirmed it was being driven without insurance and is also being investigation by Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens - North for waste disposal offences. Engagement PCSO Hart attended a Cuppa with a Coppa session at Lanchester. Sadly, it was our last one at Serendipity Cafe as they are closing! There were such an integral part of the community, and we wish Lisa all the best with her next chapter!Domestic Incident Arrest Sgt Kilgallon & PC Robson attended a domestic-related incident. A male was arrested at the scene, taken into custody, and later interviewed as part of the investigation.Fire Incident – Genesis Way Officers assisted County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service following reports of a large fire in woodland near Genesis Way. PCSO Connah and PC Robson deployed a drone to support initial searches of the area. Enquiries are ongoing – if you have any information or saw anything suspicious, please contact: consettbeatteams@durham.police.uk Retail Crime Update A youth has been interviewed in relation to a shoplifting offence, found guilty, and referred to the Youth Offending Service for further intervention.Vehicle Seizures Officers seized an off-road electric bike after it was seen being used on the A692 and later located in a nearby garden using the police drone. Vehicle Thefts We are currently dealing with a number of motor vehicle thefts and vehicle interference incidents across the area. These investigations are ongoing and are at various stages, with officers actively pursuing lines of enquiry.Harassment PC Wilson and PC Thompson have arrested a male in relation to an ongoing harassment. He has been interviewed and the investigation is still ongoing. Illegal Trader It was brought to the attention of PCSO Hart that there was a potential bogus trader operating in Langley Park. We have then acted upon this information by conducting several reassurance visits to vulnerable people who have fallen victim to the bogus trader. The trader has since been identified and arrested for numerous offences by our colleagues in Road Traffic Policing.
