|
A cyclist has sustained serious injuries following a road traffic collision in Sudbury.
Police were called at 2.30pm on Tuesday afternoon, 5 May, to reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a white Peugeot Expert van, on the A134 between the roundabout junction with Sudbury Road and Mills Lane.
The cyclist – a man aged in his 70s - was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment where he remains in a serious condition.
A 41-year-old man from Essex was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drug-driving and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre. He has been released under investigation pending the outcome of blood tests.
The A134 was closed between the Sudbury Road junction and Bull Lane at Long Melford for collision investigation work to take place, reopening at 9.30pm.
Officers are appealing for witnesses - including any other motorists driving in the area around the time of the collision with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, who are asked to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
