Thornes Park – Aviary theft

Dear Resident,

We’re asking residents and park users to be extra vigilant following a disturbing incident at an aviary in Thornes Park earlier this week.

Offender(s) have cut through the wire mesh of the aviary and approximately 30 birds are believed to have been taken.

The birds involved are mainly:

🦜 Budgies

🦜 Cockatoos

🐦 Canaries

While a small number may have flown off, it’s believed most were stolen.

If you have seen anyone acting suspiciously in or around the aviary, or noticed people carrying cages, boxes, or bags late at night or early morning, please get in touch, likewise if you have seen birds offered for sale locally, online, or door-to-door that match the above species please get in touch.
