Closure order for Bushey property after drug and crime reports |

|
A house in Bushey is subject to a three month closure order following reports of drugs and crime at the property. Following joint work between police and Hertsmere Borough Council, the closure order was granted for the house in Meadow Road at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday 24 April. The order means that no one is permitted to enter the property for the next three months, other than authorised personnel. Inspector Rachael Robertson, from the Hertsmere Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We’d received numerous reports in relation to this property and knew the impact that it was having on other residents. People have a right to feel safe in their own street. “This closure order has been achieved thanks to close collaboration with Hertsmere Borough Council who share our goal of looking after residents and making the community safe. “When we apply to the courts for closure orders, there is further work that goes on behind the scenes making sure that any vulnerable residents are safeguarded. This is important to us and we’ll be linking in with local support services to ensure appropriate ongoing support is available.” A council spokesperson said: “One of our priorities is to protect our most vulnerable residents so that they can live a life free from violence, abuse and exploitation. “This action sends a clear message - safeguarding comes first. By working closely with our partners, we are committed to disrupting this behaviour, supporting those at risk, and ensuring that residents can feel safe in their own homes.” You can use Herts Connected to let us know what you think we should be prioritising in your area.
