An educational and supportive talk was given to local residents at Seaton and Colyton medical practice. Topics of discussion were on Banking fraud, impersonation scams, online scams and email scams. Keeping yourself safe and others safe were also discussed. Security around regularly changing passwords, CCTV at home and signs asking for no cold callers.
How to Spot a Scam Too good to be true: Offers, prizes, or investment opportunities that seem too good to be true usually are. Urgency: Scammers pressure you to act immediately, such as paying quickly to avoid a penalty. Unexpected contact: Unsolicited phone calls, emails, texts, or door-to-door callers. Unusual payment methods: Asking to pay via gift cards, vouchers, or money transfer services. Personal details request: Asking for passwords, PINs, or banking information. Call 999 if you need immediate support or 101 to report.
