#SCAM - SKIMMER DEVICE

We have recently recovered a skimmer device from a cash machine in the Rochdale town centre following a report. Information suggests that similar devices may have been applied to multiple cash machines in the area.

We urge everyone to be extra vigilant when using cash machines. Here are some tips to protect yourself:

✅ Be vigilant: Cover your PIN when entering it and keep an eye on your card at all times. Be aware of your surroundings and suspicious individuals near ATMs.

✅ Check for tampering: Look out for unusual devices or attachments on the cash machine. If something seems out of place, avoid using the machine and report it to the bank or premises responsible.

✅ Trust your instincts: If you feel unsure about the safety of a cash machine, do not use it.

✅ Protect contactless cards: Consider using a protective sleeve to prevent your card details from being inadvertently read.
