Ward Priorities- Update

Good morning Resident,

I'm continuously reviewing concerns raised by residents/businesses across the wards. Based on the returns we received from residents the top 3 priorities were given as Burglary- Residential, Nuisance Vehicles and Theft-Shoplifting.

🔐 Burglary – Residential

Residential burglary remains a local priority, based on recent reports and feedback from residents.

When a burglary does occur, officers attend promptly to carry out enquiries, look for forensic opportunities and provide tailored prevention advice to victims. Nearby addresses may also receive reassurance visits where appropriate.

How you can help reduce the risk:

Always lock doors and windows, even when you’re at home or popping out briefly.

Use timer switches for lights when you’re out.

Keep keys, handbags and laptops out of sight.

Report suspicious behaviour immediately—you are often our best source of early information. Any suspicious vehicles or persons lingering/parked in unusual places, usually insticts are correct and it is very important we recieve the information ASAP.

🚗 Vehicle Crime & Nuisance Vehicles

Reports of vehicle crime (theft from or of vehicles) and nuisance vehicles remain a concern in some areas.

Officers are conducting targeted patrols and using intelligence‑led tactics to deter offenders.

Please remember to:

Lock your car and double‑check it is secure. Keep any keyless entry keys away from doors and in faraday pouches/boxes.

Remove valuables completely from view.

Park in well‑lit areas, ideally on a driveway.

Report anti‑social or suspicious vehicle behaviour as soon as possible. Any makes/models/colours would be particularly helpful. We're liaising with our traffic team/enforcement to arrange extra patrols and the possibility of further speed checks in additional areas. As local officers we will also be completing additional speed checks across the ward in permitting areas.

🛒 Theft & Shoplifting

We are working closely with local shops and businesses to reduce shoplifting through prevention advice, information‑sharing and targeted patrols at key times. If you operate or work in a local business, please continue to report all incidents—even minor thefts matter and help us identify patterns and repeat offenders.
