👮 Policing in the heart of your neighbourhood 🚓 Headland & Victoria - Off‑Road Bike Seized
Officers from the Hartlepool Neighbourhood Policing Team were patrolling the town on the evening of Friday 1 May when they spotted an orange off‑road bike being ridden illegally in the Victoria and Headland areas.
This bike had already been the subject of multiple reports from members of the public over recent weeks, following concerns about dangerous and nuisance riding. As expected, the rider failed to stop for police and made off. Officers carried out an area search in vehicles and requested the police drone to be deployed, however the bike was believed to have been stored out of sight.
Later that same evening, officers were in the right place at the right time and located the bike concealed in a back garden off West View Road. The bike was seized due to its suspected involvement in a number of road‑related offences, including being ridden uninsured, and in due course it will be destroyed.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the rider, if they wish to come forward they can contact police quoting reference SE26082526, and PC Sulga will be happy to offer some advice on their manner of riding along with appropriate enforcement.
PC Sulga said:
If you see illegal off‑road bike activity, please report it via 101, online at www.cleveland.police.uk, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
