Would you like to help shape local policing in Tonbridge?

Kent Police is inviting residents of Tonbridge to consider joining the local Independent Advisory Group (IAG).

The IAG is a group of local people who work independently but alongside the police to provide advice, local insight and challenge. Members help ensure policing is fair, inclusive and reflective of the communities it serves.

What does the IAG do?

Acts as a “critical friend” to the police

Provides community perspectives on policing policies, practices and incidents

Helps the police understand local issues, concerns and cultural sensitivities

Supports trust, confidence and transparency between the police and the community

Who can join?
We’re looking for people from all diverse backgrounds, ages and experiences who care about their community. We know that if we have the widest representation of backgrounds, we deliver the best service. You don’t need any policing experience – just a willingness to share your views, listen to others and help make Tonbridge an even safer, more inclusive place to live.

What’s involved?

Attendance at occasional meetings (usually a few times a year)

Open discussion in a respectful and confidential environment

An opportunity to directly influence local policing decisions
