Update from your Neighbourhood Team |

It has been a busy week for the team, with numerous incidents attended across North Devon, including deployments within Barnstaple.
On 30 April 2026, I conducted a joint patrol with South Molton Community College, visiting local retail premises that have historically experienced issues involving young people. This patrol formed part of our ongoing work to reduce youth-related antisocial behaviour and to provide reassurance to local businesses.
No incidents were reported during the patrol, and no concerns were raised by store staff. While the visits were routine, they provided a valuable opportunity for members of the community and college representatives to see partner agencies working collaboratively and proactively within the town to help reduce antisocial behaviour.
Furthermore, two Community Protection Warnings have been issued this week. These are intended to address antisocial behaviour at an early stage, protect local residents, and prevent further issues from arising. It is hoped that the use of these warnings will support those already affected and prevent others from being impacted.
On 29 April, while in Atherington engaging with Community Speed Watch volunteers and discussing ongoing concerns, a vehicle passed with a highly noticeable aroma of cannabis, which immediately drew attention. Following a short area search, the vehicle was stopped by officers from the South Molton team. This resulted in one arrest for drug driving, and a Community Resolution being issued to another occupant for possession of cannabis.
We remain committed to working closely with partners and the wider community to maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone in South Molton. Should anyone have any concerns, I would encourage them to make contact so the matter can be discussed and appropriate support provided.
Kindest regards
