*Please note the amendment to the age of the deceased*
A man who died following a two-vehicle collision on the A14 at Nacton earlier this week is being named by police.
Officers were called at just after 9am on Monday 27 April, to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a silver Ford S-Max on the westbound carriageway.
Ambulance and Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews were also in attendance but the driver of the car was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two passengers in the car were taken to hospital for treatment but did not sustain any serious injuries.
Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as Tony Warner, aged 67, of Ilketshall St Lawrence.
Mr Warner’s family have asked us to pass on their thanks and gratitude to all the emergency services personnel who attended the incident and also the members of the public who assisted at the scene.
A 50-year-old man from Newmarket was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He was released on bail until Monday 13 July pending further enquiries.
The A14 was closed westbound between Junction 58 at Seven Hills and Junction 56 at Wherstead, reopening at around 2am the following morning. The eastbound carriageway was closed between the off-slip and the on-slip at Junction 57 for Ransomes Europark, reopening at around 7pm Monday evening.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
