Community update: violence against a person & knife crime |
||
|
We know that incidents involving violence against a person, including knife crime, cause real concern and anxiety across our communities. Even when people are not directly affected, these incidents can understandably affect how safe people feel in their neighbourhood. Violence and knife crime can happen in many different settings and often involve complex personal circumstances. What matters most is that any harm is taken seriously and that victims receive support, while action is taken to reduce the risk of further incidents. Police officers across Hounslow are continuing to focus on preventing serious violence through visible patrols, targeted stop and search where lawful and proportionate, proactive intelligence work, and partnership activity with local councils, schools, youth services and community organisations. We are also working to identify individuals at risk of carrying knives and intervene early to prevent harm. We all have a role in keeping each other safe. If you see or hear something that worries you, or if you are concerned about someone carrying a knife or at risk of violence, please report it. In an emergency, always call 999. For non‑emergencies, contact 101 or report online. You can also share information anonymously via Crimestoppers. If you or someone you know has been affected by violence, support is available, and you are not alone. Reporting concerns helps us build a clearer picture and take action to protect our communities. Thank you to everyone who continues to look out for one another and works with us respectfully and constructively. Together, we remain committed to reducing violence, preventing knife crime, and keeping Hounslow a safer place for everyone.
