A busy few months leads to positive results in Ashford |

Dear Resident, Over the last three months, officers from the Spelthorne Safer Neighbourhood Team have been busy disrupting criminal activity in Ashford, as part of our commitment to making the area safer for all. The sustained period of enforcement in the area, which has involved partnership working with partners such as Immigration and South Western Rail, as well as colleagues from teams such as the Uniformed Proactive Team, has some great successes. The successes include: We know that residents are concerned about the levels of antisocial behaviour, drink driving, and shoplifting that is happening in Ashford, and this also has a knock-on effect for business owners and retail workers who are impacted by things like shoplifting and the abuse workers receive as a result. We’ve also been working with retailers to understand who the prolific shoplifters are to build a database to help us bring these criminals to justice. We’ve also been working with colleagues from the Designing Out Crime team to help give advice to retailers on how they can protect their business. Hear more from Borough Commander Matt Walton and Sergeant Théa Jackson about the Safer Ashford initiative and what’s to come by watching this short video: Safer Ashford - Part One - YouTube
How communities can get involved We encourage you to get involved and play your part in improving safety in Ashford. From now and into June, we are holding events where we will be able to talk to you about the proactive work we are doing with other local partners, as part of our commitment to making Ashford safer. You can find out more about the dates at the bottom of this message. We are dedicated to working with partners to tackle serious and organised crime in Ashford and Spelthorne. Every piece of information helps to build our intelligence and see the bigger picture, which ultimately enables us to disrupt often complex criminal activity. You can contact us directly about key concerns, or you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously - https://crimestoppers-uk.org/
Kind regards, Sam Mack
