Three arrested following disorder in Oswestry
Three people are in police custody following disorder in Prince Street yesterday (Monday 27 April).
Officers were called to reports of three people suspected to be in the possession of a weapon and causing damage to properties and cars.
On arrival, it was established a woman was also assaulted within a property and suffered minor injuries.
Following a search of the area, with assistance from National Police Air Service (NPAS), three people were later detained.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting an emergency worker, and a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Detective Inspector Tim Atherton from CID said: “We understand the incident last night will have been worrying for residents and would like to offer some reassurance that we now have three people in our custody.
“Officers are now working through several lines of enquiries, conducting house to house visits and gathering information from witnesses.
“We believe those involved in the incident are known to each other, with no wider risk to the public.
