E-scooter seized and man charged after Hatfield arrest |

An e-scooter was seized and its rider charged after a busy shift for the Welwyn Hatfield Neighbourhood Policing Team. Zac Rogers, aged 24, of Andrewsfield in Welwyn Garden City, was arrested in Oldings Corner Retail Park on Sunday 12 April. He was charged with the following offences: Officers also dealt with two additional incidents whilst at the retail park. A second person was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug. The man, from St Albans, was given a conditional caution for drugs possession. Whilst officers were at the scene, they also spotted an uninsured vehicle and this was also seized. Sergeant Martin Field, from the Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was a successful shift with multiple arrests across three separate incidents in the retail park. It also included the seizure of two vehicles including an e-scooter. “We know e-scooters cause a lot of concern to residents because of the danger that their high speed presents. I want to take this opportunity to remind the public that e-scooters can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. While they can be used on public land as part of a government trial, there are no trials taking place anywhere in Hertfordshire at this time. Put simply, if you are riding an e-scooter through the streets of Welwyn Hatfield, you are breaking the law.” You can use Herts Connected to let us know what you think we should be prioritising in your area.
