Policing Operation |
||
|
Good afternoon everyone,
Today; officers from your Sutton Safer Neighbourhood teams, alongside colleagues from the Roads Policing Team, and Immigration Officers from the Home Office, have been on an operation specifically targeting the use of electric bikes/scooters and associated vehicle crime.
We are aware that those who seek to commit crime often use these types of vehicles - and that often they are illegally modified or driven in a manner which is not appropriate for public use. We are also aware that the speed and agility of these types of vehicles make them the transport of choice for would-be robbers.
Officers have conducted 20+ vehicle stops, including 2 pursuits from our colleagues in the traffic unit. 2 electrically powered bikes have been seized, alongside 1 car. 1 arrest was made; while several other people are being considered for other offences - they are likely to be summoned to court in due course.
Alongside the vehicle stops - we had multiple officers on foot on Sutton High Street who were stopping people using bikes in the area (electric or otherwise).
Immigration officers also conducted stops with multiple persons to complete checks - they made no arrests today.
We hope that everyone has had a pleasant weekend, and have a safe week ahead.
Kind regards,
Sgt. Carvey | ||
