Hi Everyone As you are probably aware there have been many deliberately ignited fires on Gower commons of late .Grass fires on Gower commons are a major concern, particularly during dry and windy conditions between February and March, often resulting from arson or out-of-control burnings. The Police , Gower Commoners' Association and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service emphasize vigilance to protect wildlife, livestock, and property. Please see the information provided below:- Important Safety and Reporting Advice: Report Immediate Danger: If you see a fire that looks out of control, dial 999 immediately and ask for the Fire Service.Report Suspicious Activity: If you witness anyone deliberately starting a fire, contact South Wales Police on 101 or report it anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.Do Not Tackle Fires: Do not attempt to tackle a wild fire yourself, as it can spread extremely fast.Information Sharing: If reporting, try to provide a location, map reference, or use the What3Words app. Visitor Guidance for Gower Commons: No BBQs or Campfires: Lighting fires or disposable BBQs on the commons is prohibited and against the law.Dispose of Cigarettes: Do not drop cigarettes or any smoking materials on dry ground.Protect Livestock: Do not dump garden waste on the common, as it can be poisonous to ponies and sheep.Keep Dogs Controlled: Keep dogs on a lead to avoid disturbing nesting birds and grazing animals. |
