Play Station Age Verification. |
||
|
Dear All,
🎮 Parents, if your child uses a PlayStation , there’s something important you need to know about.
From June 2026, PlayStation is introducing mandatory age verification in the UK and Ireland. And if it’s not completed in time, your child could lose access to some of the features they use every day.
Here’s what gets blocked without verification: 🚫 Voice chat 🚫 Text messaging 🚫 Party and group sessions 🚫 Discord integration 🚫 Gameplay sharing
The good news? Games, trophies, and the PlayStation Store are completely unaffected. This is being driven by the UK’s Online Safety Act, which came into full enforcement last year. Xbox, Roblox, and Discord have already done the same thing. PlayStation is following suit, with a global rollout already planned.
So what do you actually need to do? ✅ Check whose account your child uses. If it’s yours, YOU need to complete the verification. ✅ There’s a QR code on the PS5 dashboard right now, you can do it today, ahead of the June deadline. ✅ Choose the mobile number option if privacy is a concern, it’s the quickest and shares the least personal information. ✅ Use this as an opportunity to chat with your child about who they’re talking to online.
For a lot of kids, voice chat isn’t just gaming it’s how they stay connected with their friends.
So this is worth having this on your radar before it comes into practice
♻️ Know another parent who could do with this? Give this a share, helps everyone become more involved in their child’s digital world
