Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. It has been a busy few weeks for South Yardley Neighbourhood. Firstly, we had a residents meeting at Scouts Hut, Manor Farm Road for residents for Morcom Road, Cowley Road, River Lee Road and Manor Farm Road on 27th March. This was to discuss the ongoing issues the community are facing for those roads. We have listened to their concerns, and we are currently putting various pieces of work together with key partners to support in reducing the anti-social behaviour. More visits are now being organised with us or without. We will be obtaining all details of findings to support our plan of action in reducing the issues for a long term. We want to say to those residents, we are doing everything we can and this is being monitored and to continue reporting concerns. Alongside this, we have been conducting visits with housing and the community safety teams that houses multiple occupants. This is a continuing piece of work and we will do all we can to support our partners and understand the community concerns they are facing. If you are seeing or having regular ASB involving multiple occupant homes please report this to the relevant parties so these can be addresses. We have received reports and we have been able to link in with those key partners to ensure certain addresses are on the agenda to be visited and considered to support in the reduction of the concerns raised. This has led to a few residents having to be rehoused. Vehicles related crime, we are continuing to monitor and proactively engage to support in the reduction of this. We recently conducted a Traffic operation on the Smokey Barrells car park this resulted into 21 vehicles being stopped; this related to tints being removed and drivers fined, Break lights, No insurance vehicles, no seat belts and registration plates. 1 of the stops resulted into an arrest who tested positive for drugs. After further searches of the vehicle more prohibited items were recovered and seized. We are now looking at a new site with Traffic in the coming months. Additionally, since the 01/04/26 57 tickets have been issued relating to parking and wilful obstruction. If you have concerns around a particular road, please report these to us below. Business Watch is continuing and the Swan Centre are now part of Information sharing agreement with WMP. This is to assist in their reporting of shop thefts and identification of offenders. This will help the efficiency in the investigations and the businesses requirements. 1 offender was arrested for shop theft committed in Birmingham City Centre, South Yardley and Sheldon areas. This offender was charged with 19 thefts from shops and 2 assaults. This was a successful result and is currently remanded in custody. We will now seek to see if the offender wishes to engage with our Offender 2 Recovery scheme to prevent further harm to our businesses. We are still having a continuation of Anti-social behaviour around the Swan Shopping Centre and surrounding areas. We are doing everything we can to positively engage and support individuals that require this. We also recently arrested 1 for possession of an offensive weapon. We are continuing to issue CPW’s and ASB warning letters were required and a further 5 have been issued in the last 24 hours. We are currently supporting with response demand which, may take us away from the patrols on the area at times. We are trying to manage this with passing through areas of concerns were possible or request for additional support were required. Please use utilise all reporting methods below.
