National Stalking Awareness Week 2026 - Hollie Guard |

Dear Resident
I'm writing to you as one of the Neighbourhood Officers for Watford Central Ward to share a post which was recently published to our Herts Police Facebook page in light of National Stalking Awareness Week 2026. If you have any questions about the App ‘Hollie Guard’ - which is an excellent personal safety app which is not exclusive to women - please hit ‘Reply’ at the bottom of this message to contact us on the Neighbourhood Policing Team directly.
With thanks, Fiona
Stalking victims and others at risk of harm across Hertfordshire are now receiving added protection thanks to funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). The Constabulary has secured 500 Hollie Guard Extra licences, funded by £20,000 from the PCC, enabling personalised support for people facing stalking, domestic abuse and violence against women and girls, ahead of Stalking Awareness Week this week (20–26 April). Anyone can download the Hollie Guard personal safety app but the paid for ‘extra’ licences link users directly to a 24/7 police‑approved monitoring centre. When an alert is activated, video, audio and GPS location are automatically captured and securely stored, helping police respond quickly and providing potential evidence for court. Thirty-two licences have already been used in Hertfordshire since Monday 30 March. Vulnerability Hub Inspector Grant Bennett said: “Stalking can significantly compromise someone’s safety, but we hope we can give them added protection with Hollie Guard Extra. It is essential for our ongoing mission to tackle violence against women and girls, stalking and domestic abuse.” Sergeant Jon Vine from the Vulnerability Hub, who has been working with Hollie Guard, added: “We know stalkers can cause serious harm and this is a really valuable tool in helping us to further protect victims in Hertfordshire." Police and Crime Commissioner for Hertfordshire Jonathan Ash-Edwards said: “Everyone deserves to feel safe in Hertfordshire. Tackling violence against women and girls and protecting vulnerable people is a key priority in the Police & Crime Plan. Hollie Guard plays an important role in increasing protections for those at risk and I’m pleased to have been able to confirm this funding to help more victims.” Frontline officers and our Domestic Abuse Investigation and Safeguarding Unit can refer those at risk to the Vulnerability Hub, helping to ensure the right support reaches those who need it most. Together, we’re working to protect those most at risk of harm, including stalking victims, to make Hertfordshire safer for everyone. | ||
