Hampstead Town Officers Support Traffic Enforcement Operation in Highgate on 24/04/26

I wanted to provide you with an update following a recent traffic enforcement operation carried out in Highgate ward, where Hampstead Town Safer Neighbourhood Team assisted Highgate Safer Neighbourhood Team in response to concerns about speeding and other road traffic offences in the area.

Representing Hampstead Town SNT were Sergeant WORGER, Acting Police Sergeant ALVES, PC BELL, PC COPPING and PCSO CATUBIG. We were also joined by colleagues from Kentish Town SNT and Frognal SNT. PC BELL and our PC colleague from Frognal SNT are both trained to use the speed gun and supported this activity.

Officers were deployed in high-visibility uniform on Dartmouth Park Hill, NW5, using a speed gun to identify speeding vehicles and provide a visible police presence. This helped deter offending and allowed officers to deal directly with concerns on the road.

During the operation, officers stopped two vehicles under Section 163 of the Road Traffic Act. Following further enquiries, one person was arrested and one vehicle was seized in connection with possession of suspected Class A drugs, possession of an offensive weapon and handling stolen goods.

We know traffic and road safety remain important concerns for residents, and your feedback continues to help shape our local policing priorities.

Although this operation took place in Highgate ward, Hampstead Town SNT may also carry out future traffic enforcement operations within Hampstead Town to help tackle speeding and improve road safety in our own area.
