A Successful Weapon Sweep

Safer Neighbourhood Officers were conducting proactive weapon sweeps in the Nightingale Estate and Hackney Downs Park as part of ongoing efforts to deter crime and improve public safety. The searches focused on areas where items could be concealed, including bushes, plants, and other overgrown locations commonly used to hide weapons or prohibited materials.

While carrying out these sweeps, officers located three nitrous oxide canisters along with signs of drug paraphernalia discarded within the bushes. These findings were removed from the area to reduce potential harm and to prevent misuse, particularly in locations accessible to the general public.

PCSOs will continue to patrol the area regularly to ensure it remains safe and welcoming for residents and visitors. Any illegal items discovered during future patrols or searches will be seized and destroyed in accordance with relevant legislation, and appropriate action will be taken where necessary to address ongoing concerns.

If you do find any prohiteted items, please throw it away ASAP and keep it out of public eye. If neccessary please report it to make the team aware.
