Glossop SNT - Engagements/School Visits/Clinics
On Monday 20th April PCSO Buller, from Glossop YET and PCSO Nicklin from New Mills SNT attended New Mills Secondary School, Church Lane, New Mills for our monthly Lunch time drop-in session for April. Whilst there we took the opportunity to complete some Derbyshire Alert Young - Peoples surveys with students during their lunchtime.
Then on Tuesday evening, 21st of April, PCSO Buller attended the 'Hang Out Club' held at the Gamesley Community Centre, Melandra Castle Road, Gamesley - held every Tuesday for Key stage 2 , 3 and 4 (Juniors and Seniors - see poster attached). Engaging and chatting with the attendees. Its good too see our young people having fun and socialising in a welcoming and safe environment.
On Wednesday afternoon, 22nd April, Glossop YET completed a meeting with the guardian and young person at their home address who had been involved in Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) in the New Mills area. This resulted in the issue of a 1st ASB letter to the young person. These letters are the first step in recording details of young people who are involved in ASB - and a way of making parents aware that their children are coming to the notice of the Police.
Today, Thursday 23rd April, after lunch Glossop YET completed an Engagement Event at St James' Primary School, Chadwick St, Glossop. The topic was 'Learning what the role of Police is? What they do in our community? - This was with the Daisy Class, who are children ages 5 to 6. There was some fantastic and enthusiastic engagementon show, including some very interesting questions, Its a very well done to all, including a thank you to the head and staff for allowing our visit today.
Later that same evening Glossop YET completed an Early Intervention Clinic (discussion about consequences) at Glossop Police Station These sessions enable the team to speak with parents and young people about the consequences of committing crime and being involved in Anti-social Behaviour.
This is part of the restorative justice system - with the perpetrator admitting being responsible for their actions - by them showing remorse and accepting the input as a resolution/closure for them and it is completed in agreement with the victim and Police.
