Traffic Operation Friday 17th April - Halifax Road Huddersfield

On Friday 17th April NPT officers conducted a proactive traffic operation on Halifax Road in Huddersfield. We were joined by our colleagues from Catch & Control and partner agencies at Kirklees Council Taxi Licensing and DVSA.

Multiple vehicles were stop checked throughout the operation.

A total of 36 taxis were stopped with the majority complying to Taxi Licensing regulations. Minor issues were dealt with such as replacing door signs and fixing a number plate light. This is a huge improvement from previous operations indicating that the standards of taxi and hackney carriages in the local area are improving.

Two commercial vehicles were immediately suspended from use due to a dangerous load and faulty brakes. A third vehicle was issued with a delayed prohibition notice due to issues with the suspension. Further tickets were issued for commercial vehicles being overloaded.

One driver was dealt with for driving whilst disqualified, holding an expired provisional licence and driving without insurance. The vehicle was seized by police and the driver reported for the offences.
